Bli Bli Hotel

Brand Strategy | Brand Identity | Website | Print

One of the Sunshine Coasts prominent hospitality groups, Sunshine Coast Hotels, approached Flying Pigs with a request to help build the Brand Identity for their new hotel in the town of Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.

While still under construction at the time, the sprawling new development encompasses a large dining area Bistro, Sports Bar, Gaming area as well as a considerable parking lot for all of their customers.

Given the development of the property was well underway, we needed to take our cues from both the architecture of the building, and more so, the interior fit out and fixtures that had already been chosen. With Australian bush and succulent plants used throughout, coupled with an Australian coastal colour palette of greens, teals, wattle yellow and burnt orange accents, the colour direction was almost set for us.

The logo and other assets however, were more a blank canvas. We took our cues from some of the deco styled fixtures used in the gaming area and married that with the somewhat bohemian nature of the wallpapers that had been chosen. With a name made up of 3 letters which are then repeated, we faced a typography challenge to keep it interesting, and decided to try and create our own hand drawn font rather than utilising an existing typeface. This approach also provided something totally unique for the venue and guaranteed that it couldn’t easily be replicated.

As we believe is ‘best practise’, with a logo, typestyles, a graphic language based on foliage, and a colour palette established, we set about applying the toolkit of ingredients to a range of potential applications that may be required by the time the venue is ready to open. From the basic stationery package, through to the website, staff uniforms, signage, a range of promotional posters for differing weekly events, and even a wine label design for the house wines, the toolkit was thoroughly tested to ensure it worked across a wide variety of potential needs.

Both Flying Pigs Creative and the township of Bli Bli are very much looking forward to seeing it all unveiled!
