Covaris

Brand Strategy | Brand Identity | Website | Print

Over the last 20+ years, Covaris has become of the nation’s pioneers in the area of Asset Management Engineering. Servicing big industry clients in the mining, government and utilities industries, just to name a few.

Covaris approached Flying Pigs to assist with a refreshed positioning of the company in an effort to improve their overall brand appearance to appear more like the leader in the field that they are. Essentially undertaking a complete rebrand which would impact on every touch point in the mix, from the company logo, a refreshed and more conversational tone of voice, their sales tools and of course, their website.

Our starting point for a project of this magnitude is to take a deep immersive dive in to how all the key stakeholders feel about the current brands pros and cons, what’s worked, what hasn’t, whether there’s any equity worth salvaging and what the longer term vision for the company is. All these topics and more were covered off in a half day workshop, the report from which provides a clear blueprint for the business is all about by way of brand pillars, where it sits amongst the competitor set and illustrates a clear pathway forward. Needless to say, it also greatly helps to inform all the creative work that’s about to happen.

Starting with a logo mark that modernised the existing logo but with an added 4 colours that represented the 4 specific service offerings along with the development of a brand toolkit of ingredients, we then set about applying the toolkit to the key sales tool of what we like to call an ‘un-binnable’ company profile and capabilities document.

Given the nature of the ‘big’ industries they work with, we opted to use equally big imagery that showcased their client’s valuable assets which they’re heavily reliant on. The document itself covered off the company’s key pillars, the four service offerings and double page spreads for each of the ten industries that they work across. With a total of 44 pages, we were able to print the document with a PUR bound spine, giving it a more ‘book like’ appearance and the use of uncoated paper stock and a short cut cover, all helped provide a document that was premium in its appearance.

With the website almost finished, Covaris are now in an even better position to build on their success to date, and are now dressed appropriately for it too.
