The family run team at Mudgee Tax Accountants were looking for a sea change and decided to relocate to the Illawarra with a new vision for the business, and a new name in Wollongong Business Accountants. With 30 years experience under their belt helping small to medium sized businesses achieve their financial goals through sound advice and best practice, the new entity was built on the foundations of ‘no nonsense accounting’ and looking at their client’s businesses with a view to bigger picture thinking. In turn, they needed a brand identity that would reflect just that.
We started with a mini workshop to glean some deeper insights in to their offering and then conducted a local competitor analysis, taking a good look at their main competition’s own brand identities and tone of voice in an effort to find a unique positioning. Going through those two processes resulted in us helping to establish their brand values of being Trustworthy, Loyal, Holistic, Grounded and Inquisitive.
These ‘values’ then informed an integral part of the brand identity through the establishment of a unique logo device that incorporated elements that reflected each of their values. When locked up with the name Wollongong Business Accountants, the master brand mark is simplistic, stylish and professional, while remaining approachable, and encompasses the ethos of the brand.
Over and above the chosen typefaces and icon illustrations, another major part of the brand toolkit was the establishment of their colour palette and more specifically, the heavy use of a rich, vibrant blue which would help set them apart visually, and make them easily identifiable in a fairly crowded local industry category.
Based on an initial copy deck provided by the client, we were able to add a new level of flavour and determine an appropriate tone of voice that reflected their professionalism, yet down to earth and approachable nature.
All of these elements were then applied to stationery, sales tools and the all important website that tells the story of their history, service offering and bigger picture thinking.
