Black Diamond Adventures – Capturing Outdoor Education

Videography | Editing | Motion Graphics

Black Diamond Adventures has been providing inspiring outdoor education, school camps and leadership programs for schools and universities, including the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions, since 2017.

With a strong emphasis on learning about Australia and being Australian, the programs are designed to take participants out of their urban comfort zone and into the real outdoors where they learn things like how to fish, how to cook damper and boil billy tea over an open fire, how to sleep under the stars, surf a wave at a beach and of course, get informed about cultural information around Aboriginal heritage and our first nations people.

With the onset of Covid-19 in 2020, Black Diamond saw an opportunity to take these learnings in to the school grounds as opposed to taking the kids out to camp and basically bring the bush to them. They developed a series of activities that could be conducted within the grounds, which kept all the education intact, yet still made for a fun and engaging way of learning.

In order to share how the program works with prospective schools, Black Diamond approached Flying Pigs Creative to shoot a video which captured the essence of what the very full day is all about while showcasing each of the activities and lessons.

They also needed a straight to camera piece to share the overall Black Diamond Adventures story, including what they do and what it stands for, which was delivered by the home grown mastermind behind the concept, Rob Mann.

It was certainly an action packed and very full day with the Black Diamond crew for us, but just as the participants felt, it was an equally rewarding adventure with great results!
